Ñòàðîâîéòîâ Â.Â. ÿâëÿåòñÿ ñïåöèàëèñòîì â îáëàñòè îáðàáîòêè, àíàëèçà è ðàñïîçíàâàíèÿ öèôðîâûõ èçîáðàæåíèé. Èññëåäóåò è ðàçðàáàòûâàåò áèîìåòðè÷åñêèå ñèñòåìû ðàñïîçíàâàíèÿ ÷åëîâåêà, àëãîðèòìû îáðàáîòêè àýðî-êîñìè÷åñêèõ ñíèìêîâ è ìåäèöèíñêèõ èçîáðàæåíèé. ×ëåí îáùåñòâ IEEE, IAPR. Îïóáëèêîâàë áîëåå 150 ðàáîò â íàó÷íûõ æóðíàëàõ è òðóäàõ êîíôåðåíöèé, 2 ìîíîãðàôèè. H-èíäåêñ ðàâåí 4.
